Call for Applications - St. John College of Health Sciences Undergraduate Intake for 2021

Applications are invited for 2021 entry into Bachelor of Science programs in Mental Health-Psychiatric Nursing; Clinical Medicine (Mental Health) and University Diploma in Psychosocial Counselling at Saint John of God College of Health Sciences, part of St. John of God Hospitaller Services in Malawi and a subsidiary of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, a worldwide Catholic healthcare organization. The Bachelor of Science in Mental Health –Psychiatric Nursing program and University Diploma in Psychosocial Counselling is affiliated to University of Malawi while the Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine –Mental Health is affiliated to Mzuzu University.
1. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CLINICAL MEDICINE (MENTAL HEALTH)
- This is a two-year full time programme Applicants to this program must;
- be qualified general Clinical Officers with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine (Generic). Those with Diploma in Mental Health and Clinical Psychiatry are also eligible.
- have a full Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent.
- currently be registered with the professional regulatory body governing clinical medicine practice in their respective countries e.g. the Medical Council of Malawi for Malawian applicants.
- have a minimum of two years’ work experience
2. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN MENTAL HEALTH PSYCHIATRIC NURSING
This is a two-year full time programme Applicants to this program must;
- be Registered Nurses or Registered Nurse/ Midwives with University Diploma.
- have a minimum of two years post-qualification clinical/work experience.
- have a full Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent with six (6) credits in English, Physical Science, Biology, Mathematics and any other two subjects
- have current registration with the professional regulatory bodies of the nursing profession in their country e.g. the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi for Malawian applicants.
3. UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA IN PSYCHOSOCIAL COUNSELLING
This is a two-year full time programme Applicants must:
- have a full Malawi School Certificate of Education or its equivalent with six credits including English ii. be 20 years of age or older N.B: Those with related post-secondary training such as teaching, nursing etc. are encouraged to apply
Fees structure in Malawi Kwacha
1. Tuition
- Bachelor of Science Clinical Medicine (Mental Health) = 421,500 per semester (843,000 per year).
- Bachelor of Science Mental Health - Psychiatric Nursing = 421,500 per semester (843,000 per year)
- Diploma in Psychosocial Counselling = 341,500 per semester (683,000 per year)
- Hepatitis B Vaccine =12,000 paid once in first semester.
2. Accommodation and meals (optional)
- Accommodation with self-catering 175,000 per semester (350,000 per year)
- Meals will be available on special arrangement with our caterers and will be paid for separately.
