MAGU Hosts its 6th Graduation Ceremony

Malawi Assemblies of God University, held its 6th Graduation on the 15th of November, 2019 at Bingu International Convention Center in the Capital city, Lilongwe. The theme of the graduation was; Innovation: A key to Malawi’s Economic Development.

 The Chancellor cum President of the Malawi Assemblies of God Reverend Dr. Edward Chitsonga, presided over the 6th Graduation. Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees across all faculties at the University were awarded to the graduating students.

The Guest of Honour was the Deputy Director for Higher Education in the Ministry of Education of Science and Technology Dr. Valentino Zimpita. The Graduating students were encouraged and inspired by a motivational talk by Mr. Charles Lipenga, an award winning architect and Philanthropist. He also donated funds, for the launch of Team Meastros program at MAGU.

Various partners and organizations were invited to grace the event. The organisations included PLAN Malawi, Prime Insurance, Peach Tree and ICAM Plan Malawi. In their appliciations, these organisations gave prizes and trophies to outstanding performers in the Faculty of Education and Commerce.

In his speech the Chancellor of the University, Rev Dr. Edward Chitsonga, focused on the history of the establishment of the University. He mentioned five key reasons as to why MAGU was established and these are;

To provide a high level system of education driven by strong Christian values and standards indispensable for creating a strong, visionary and values-based leadership for the church and country.

To provide an integrated approach of tertiary education.

To increase the level of impacting the society aside from the Theological Track through university-wide teaching, research and public affairs activities.

To provide an interdisciplinary network of faculties with interest and expertise empowering the student with transformational lifestyle and mindset needed in the society.

To provide a powerful community, center and process through which essential human transformation is enhanced.

The Chancellor also assured the Guest of Honor and all attendees that MAGU will continue to produce empowered Spirit filled technocrats. He was exited that current student intake has 55.77 percent representing female students which is a proud contribution towards gender equality in the students.

In his closing remarks the Chancellor assured the audience that MAGU will continue to facilitate many and exciting programs, create moral technocrats to serve in both the private and public sector. He finally also hinted on the plans of opening MAGU Blantyre Campus to further and extend the opportunity for many more to access to quality education.

 

In his speech, The Guest of Honour, Dr. Zimpita commended the role that private institutions are playing in promotion to access of higher education in the country. He encouraged the graduates to really show the world about their expertise that they have acquired during their stay in college.

In their speech, the graduating class promised to that they are going out to the world as transformed citizens and they will raise the MAGU flag higher. They were also very thankful to the lecturers, parents, guardians and sponsors for all the assistance, guidance and encouragement rendered to them.
