Ministry of Education on a National Campaign to Promote High Performance Computing (HPC)

The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) in collaboration with South Africa Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) would like to cordially invite all interested Malawi researchers to attend and participate in a virtual (Zoom) engagement session scheduled to take place on Thursday, 7 April 2022, from 10:00 to 12:00 (2 Hours). This initiative forms part of the SADC Cyber Infrastructure bilateral collaboration initiatives between Malawi and South Africa Governments towards the deployment and expansion of High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure, resources, expertise and usage in Malawi.
The purpose of the engagement with Malawi researchers is threefold:

To communicate current initiatives towards the provisioning of High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure and services in Malawi in collaboration with the South African based Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC);

To communicate immediate opportunities and practical steps for Malawi researchers to access and use HPC computing resources as currently hosted at the CHPC in South Africa, and;

To obtain understanding and feedback from Malawi researchers on the need for access to HPC computing resources towards enhancement of Modelling and Simulation (M&S) as a key fundamental tool to enhance research impact and outputs across a wide range of scientific and engineering domains.
The format of the engagement session will be informal with open discussion encouraged (download attached agenda below).
