Further, following the delinking of the University of Malawi colleges on 4th May 2021, the Council wishes to inform the general public that:
- Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHes), Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) and the University of Malawi (UNIMA) shall be deemed to be duly registered on 4th May 2021 because they have been established by Acts of Parliament.
- The accreditation status of all programmes accredited before the delinking will not change and that the accreditation validity period remains the same.
- The accreditation status of the institutions also remains the same. However, a verification exercise will be conducted following the establishment of the new governance structures, policies and staff complement. This will not be done to confirm that the new changes meet the Council's minimum standards before transfering the institutional accreditation status.
The Council urges all students and guardians to verify the registration and accreditation status of institution and programmes before enrolling.
