About the Egyptian Undergraduate Scholarships for Malawian Students 2021-2022

The National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM) has been engaged by the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Malawi to support identification of candidates for the undergraduate scholarship programme offered by the Government of Egypt.

Therefore, NYCOM is calling for applications from suitably qualified Malawian young people to pursue various undergraduate  studies at Cairo University and Al Azhar Islamic University in Egypt. 

Thirty (30) academic scholarships are available at Cairo University or similar universities in the following fields: Economics, Political Science, Mass Communication, Languages, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Archelogy, Information Systems, Science, Social Work, Tourism, Nursing, Arts, Commence, Law, Agriculture, Physical Education, and Engineering.

In addition, Egypt is also offering twenty (20) academic scholarships for Muslim students to study at Al Azhar Islamic University in the following fields: Islamic Studies, Agriculture, Commerce, Science, Languages, Arabic Language, Law, Anthropology, Medicine, and Engineering.

ELIGIBILITY

To qualify for this opportunity, one must be:

  • A young person of Malawian origin and aged not more than 24. Proof of age such as a copy of passport, national identity card or birth certificate is required;
  • A recent Secondary School leaver with a score of not more than 20 points or equivalent score;
  • In possession of Malawian passport or able to get the passport upon getting shortlisted for interviews;
  • Be able to provide a medical report and birth certificate at the earliest possible convenience;
  • Financially challenged or needy competitive applicants will have an added advantage. NOTE: This Scholarship covers tuition and basic upkeep allowance. However, successful candidates may be required to have extra personal upkeep resources.
  • Proficient in English language. 
  • Adequate knowledge of Arabic language is essential requirement for those interested to pursue studies at Al Azhar Islamic University. This may also apply to some programmes offered at Cairo University

HOW TO APPLY

Interested and qualified candidates should send their application letters (not more than one page), and copies of certificates and transcripts through to The Chief Executive Officer, National Youth Council of Malawi, Private Bag 389, Lilongwe 3. 

Application can also be submitted by hand at the National Youth Council of Malawi offices located in Area 14 (Area 14/106).
